What is calnet2?
Calnet2 is an upgrade to calnet and utilizes the current wireless standards for connecting to Purdue Calumet’s wireless network. Calnet2 was designed and deployed to provide users greater security, stability, and reliablity when connecting to the campus wireless network.
Why should I use calnet2?
Calnet2 is a new method of connecting to and using the wireless network here at Purdue Calumet. It is more secure, reliable, and convenient than the first version of Calnet. It uses encrypted and authenticated connections, also known as wi-fi protected access (WPA) connections, to Purdue Calumet’s wireless access points. By using calnet2, users are less likely to experience dropped connections, and they have the ability to roam to other access points without interruption. For example, it will be possible to sit in a lounge in SULB and work on class notes then take that laptop to the Second floor Library without dropping the wireless connection.
