Push Yourself

  • Set up an appointment with Ms. Maxfield to complete an interest assessment, receive Skillstutor access and find out about upcoming ETS activities/workshops.
  • Complete your electronic portfolio (e profile) online for FREE.
  • Focus on your classes and stay on top of homework assignments – important skills you’ll need for success in high school and college. If you need assistance, contact the Rose-Hulman Homework Hotline (1-877-ASK-ROSE) or visit Homework Help for additional resources.
  • Take a learning styles assessment to better understand the best ways for you to learn new information.
  • Sign up for the right high school classes - Core 40
  • Reach higher – aim for classes that will challenge you (Advanced Placement, dual credit, International Baccalaureate).
  • Set a goal of earning a distinguished diploma (Core 40 with Academic Honors and Core 40 with Technical Honors). 
  • Use your electives to explore possible careers.

Find the Right Fit

Put Your Hands on Some Cash

  • Apply for 21st Century Scholars now to help pay for college later (if you did not already do so).
  • Complete Making it Count to determine a sound strategy for college financial planning.
  • Do the Ready for the Real World activity to test your financial savvy.
  • If you don’t have one, request your Social Security number by visiting Social Security Online or by calling 1-800-772-1213 – you’ll need it for financial aid and job applications.
  • Save money. College is a great investment in your future!

Be a pain, in a good way – Find Someone To Help

  • Discuss your future plans with Ms. Maxfield, your family, and other adults.
  • In the spring, an orientation session may be offered by your high school.  Go to it!
  • Bookmark the Educational Talent Search home page to your internet favorites and create a shortcut on your desktop.
