<p>On Saturday, October 11, 2008 please plan to attend &#8220;Parent University&#8221; at Central High School (East Chicago) if you are an interested parent in <a href="http://webs.calumet.purdue.edu/talent/files/2008/08/jpc.jpg"><img class="alignright alignnone size-medium wp-image-188" style="float: right;margin: 5px" src="http://webs.calumet.purdue.edu/talent/files/2008/08/jpc.jpg" alt="" width="100" height="140" /></a>learning about new and innovative educational programs and processes for inner city youth.  <a title="Dr. James Comer's Bio" href="http://info.med.yale.edu/comer/about/profiles.html#comer" target="_blank">Dr. James Comer</a>, Child Psychiatrist, East Chicago native and founder of the <a title="School Development Program" href="http://info.med.yale.edu/comer/" target="_blank">School Development Program </a>(SDP) at Yale University will be the keynote speaker for this event which will run from 8:45-11:00 a.m.</p>
<p>This event will also feature vendor booths, a college fair, and youth programs focusing on a teen summit and sports program.  For more information please contact ETS at 989-2460.</p>

<p>The program adopted the <a title="NIH resource site" href="http://science.education.nih.gov/" target="_blank">National Institute of Health (NIH)</a> and <a title="Discovery Education online" href="http://school.discoveryeducation.com/lessonplans/6-8.html#" target="_blank">Discovery Education </a>recommended curriculum which is consistent with the state of Indiana recommended <a title="Indiana Academic standards" href="http://www.doe.in.gov/standards/welcome2.html" target="_blank">academic standards</a>.  Additionally, participants engaged in group projects, teambuilding, and unique field trips. </p>
