The goal of Student Support Services is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next. The program provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education.
Services
Student Support Services offers the following services through a dedicated team of skilled professionals:
- One-on-one tutoring
- Academic counseling
- Monitoring of academic progress
- Assistance with financial aid and scholarship forms
- Financial literacy resources
- Referrals for personal and career counseling
- Skill and interest assessments and evaluations
- Strategies for success workshops
- Reading and writing assistance
- Study skills and test anxiety assistance
- Math skills and anxiety assistance
- Computer readiness training
- Referrals to campus and community resources
- Services for students with disabilities
Eligibility Requirements
Student Support Services is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Education and federal program guidelines require that all participants have an academic need and meet one (or more) of the following criteria:
- Income qualification (as established by federal guidelines)
- First generation (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree)
- Documentation of a physical, emotional or learning disability
