PUC Student Invention Grant (SIG)

Up to five Invention Grants will be awarded in October

Awarded project will receive up to $500 to design the proposed product by March 1.
Eligibility
- Student must be a PUC registered student for Fall and Spring courses during the current Academic Year
- Student must work with at least one PUC faculty mentor
- Project may be designed and/or implemented by an individual student or a group of students; however, may not have faculty or staff as co-author
Application
- Student must complete the Student Invention Grant Application which contains the following key information:
- Project Title
- Description of the project and timeline for completing work
- Name(s) of the faculty mentor(s)
- Itemized budget (not to exceed $500)
- Once student receives approval and recommendation by the faculty mentor(s), the faculty mentor(s) will submit the application form to the Student Research Office electronically no later September 20.
Condition of Award
- Recipients must demonstrate the innovative product to the review committee during Student Research Day held during the Spring semester.
Selection Procedures/Criteria
All student applications, presentations and/or demonstrations will be ranked by a review committee according to the following criteria:
- Innovative and creative contribution
- Feasibility for project success
- Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Potential contribution to local economic development and commercialization
Grant Administration

Grants will be administered by the Student Research Office

PUC Student Invention Grants must be used for expenses directly incurred by the research project

Examples of allowable expenses, my include, by are not limited to, materials, chemicals, books, software, licenses, recording devices, duplication of materials as well as travel during the reserach project to gather data

The funding may not be used for stipends, typical office supplies such as pens, paper and folders, computers, and travel to present the results of the research

All equipment and unused supplies purchased with this grant remain the property of Purdue University Calumet

Awardees who fail to complete the proposed project by the stated deadling will be ineligible for future internal grants/awards issued and/or managed by the PUC Student Research Office
