The first official Spring Break-thru (PUC’s alternative spring break program) has come to its conclusion with resounding applause!
On Monday, March 16, the students and site leaders started their journeys with a kick-off breakfast. After a hearty meal and pleasant conversation, the groups headed out to their respective destinations. One group headed to the local venue of Haven House, a domestic violence shelter in Hammond. Another group traveled east to Ft. Wayne to the Chief Richardville Site to work on restoration of this historical landmark. The third group took to the friendly skies, flying to Houston, Texas to assist in Houston’s Third Ward, working with Generation One.
Volunteers worked hard all week and assisted with everything from answering phones to stripping wallpaper! One group at the Ft. Wayne site chose to forego their afternoon of free time to finish the project they had begun. Comments of appreciation were many and the high praises of our students are still being sung!
Thank you to all who participated in this venture in any way, whether it was through your volunteer efforts or a donation to get this project off the ground. Once again, PUC has stepped up to the task – we have been seen and heard, and we are grateful for what we were able to accomplish.
