  • Calumet Council Girl Scouts
    The Girl Scouts of the Calumet Council are in need of adult volunteer leaders. There are many grade schools around PUC with girls that have an interest in Girl Scouts, but cannot form a troop due to the lack of adults willing to volunteer their time. If you or your organization is wiling to help out, please contact Kim Thomas at kthomas@gscalumet.org or you may call her at 219-838-3171 ext 24.
  • Our Family Center- South Hammond
    Our Family Center is looking for volunteers for their K-12 after school program. The program provides character building, hosts tutoring programs as well as provides time for a computer lab, recreational activities, crafts and more. Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana – East Chicago Katherine House
Many volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas. Call 219-398-1344 for more information about the various volunteer opportunities. Applications are now available.

  • Character and Leadership Development – Mentor a child, take part in our Community Service Groups – Torch and Keystone Clubs, Help develop a child into a Junior Leader.
    • Education and Career Development – Provide job shadowing opportunities, Hire a Club member and provide a job opportunity, Bring an educational program to the Club, Help train children on computers, Provide homework assistance, Tutor.
    • Health and Life Skills – Provide a safety awareness program, Teach health education/nutrition, Participate in our Tobacco Cessation programs.
    • The Arts – Teach youth art techniques, Introduce photography, Teach digital photography or computer arts, Start a choir, Teach a dance class, Introduce crafts such as cooking and sewing, Introduce a multi-cultural program.
    • Sports, Fitness and Recreation – Coach or referee sporting tournaments, Participate in “On the Spot” fun, Gardening and Community Beautification projects
  • College Mentors For Kids!
    College Mentors for Kids! is looking for enthusiastic individuals with compassion, integrity, and diverse perspectives that will bring enrichment and inspiration to the lives of young children. All weekly activities will last for 2-3 hours. You must attend all activities. You may obtain an application by clicking here.
