Friday, June 12th, 2009 - 12:15 pm

Robin A. Richards

“Networking is the best way to meet new people,” says this General Sociology major who also assists incoming PUC students as a New Student Orientation Leader. “Purdue Calumet is a very diverse school and I like that a lot,” she says. There are two things that Robin does to manage her stress: reading her bible and writing in her journal. Her favorite movie is a movie where all of the members “have a high confidence level,” “flashy clothes,” and are very “sophisticated.”  Can you guess the movie? It’s Oceans 11!

I have wanted to do it for the past few years but the timing never quite worked out.

This semester, I was lucky enough be an intern in Haven House. Haven House is a domestic violence shelter that serves the NW Indiana area.  In my time there, I have learned how they pretty much live off the donations off the community, and with the economy sliding down, the staff at the shelter pretty much knew that whatever they normally get in donations will dwindle dramatically. I asked them what they really needed. They said – Toilet paper.  (more…)
