Lab Equipment Overview

Faculty and Staff Lab, Gyte 135

HP ScanJet Scanners
The scanner can be used to create digital images of pictures, charts, etc. and to scan text from documents, magazines, and books and convert it into a Word, Excel, PDF, or other format using such software as Omnipage Pro, Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Acrobat.

Film Scanner
This scanner is used to create digital images from 35mm slides, negatives, or a processed roll of film.

CD and DVD Recorder
The CD and DVD Recorder is used for copying CD’s and DVD’s (Legal Copies Only), and for creating data, music CD’s, or video.

Free Printing
Faculty and staff can print on the printer below for free.

  • HP Black and White LaserJet Printer
    This is a standard, black print, laser printer. This is a default printer for all PC’s in the Lab. This printer is used for all draft printing, high-quality black-and-white printing, and black-and-white transparencies and prints double-sided by default.

Fee-based Printing
Faculty and staff can print on the printers below for a fee. This fee will be based on the printer used and the size of the page being printed. The fee will be charged to your department so please bring your Cost Center and Fund numbers with you when you come to print. If you would like to know the price per page of printing, contact the OIT at 989-2873.

  • HP Color Inkjet Printer
    This is a photo-quality, color, ink-jet printer. It is used for standard color-printing and large format printing including 11” x 17” and 13” x 19”. It is also capable of double-sided printing.
  • Xerox Phaser
    This printer allows for high-quality color printing from solid, crayon-like ink. The images are produced with a waxy finish, creating beautiful documents and transparencies. It is capable of double-side printing but limited to 8.5″ x 11″ paper.
  • Canon Photo Printer
    This printer allows for a high-quality photo-print. It’s capable of printing 4”×6”, 8”×10”, and 13”×19”.
  • Over-sized Color Printer
    This printer allows for over-sized printing such as for banners or posters. It can print up to 36” wide with the length being as long as you need. The price for printing using this printer will depend upon the size of your project. It will be a minimum of 24 hours before your project is ready when using this printer.

Epson Perfection Scanner
The scanner can be used to create digital images of pictures, charts, etc. using such software such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Acrobat.

CD and DVD Recorder
The CD and DVD Recorder is used for copying CD’s and DVD’s (Legal Copies Only), and for creating data, music CD’s, or video.

HP LaserJet Printer
This is a standard, black print, laser printer. This is a default printer for all Mac’s in the Lab. This printer is used for all draft printing, high-quality black-and-white printing, and black-and-white transparencies. This printer is connected to GoPrint and will deduct the cost of your pages from your GoPrint account.

Smartboard
This large plasma display is located in the front of the lab and is connected to the instructor’s computer. You can use the Smartboard to display your PowerPoint presentation, view websites or display other documents during class.
