With Purdue University Calumet expecting high, if not record-setting enrollment again this spring, university officials are urging prospective students to apply for admission early.
While priority registration for the spring semester begins Monday (10/19), prospective students first must be admitted to Purdue Calumet before they can register for classes. The semester begins Jan. 19. Classes will be filled in advance on a first-come, first-served basis.
In anticipation of a rush of applicants, Purdue Calumet officials have set a Jan. 8 deadline for accepting spring semester admission applications. A swelling of applicants this fall contributed to record enrollment of 10,133. New students, transfer students or those students returning to Purdue Calumet after an absence of two or more years must apply for admission.
“Even though we have set a Jan. 8 admission deadline, there is no guarantee that prospective students who wait until then to apply will find available openings in classes in which they want to register,” Purdue Calumet Assistant Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Services/Registrar Anne Agosto-Severa said. “Our best advice to prospective students who want to attend Purdue Calumet next semester is to apply now.”
Prospective students can apply for admission on line at http://webs.calumet.purdue.edu/prospective, accessing the “apply online” link and following directions. They also can apply in person on campus at the Enrollment Services Center in Room 130 of Lawshe Hall.
The Enrollment Services Center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Prospective undergraduate students also can phone 219/989-2213 or 800/HI-PURDUE, ext. 2213 for more information. Prospective graduate students can contact the Office of the Graduate School at 219/989-2257 or 800/HI-PURDUE, ext. 2257.
