Teams will consist of 4 players on the floor at a time:
1 goalie, 1 defense, 1 forward & 1 center
CO-ED OPTIONAL
You have until the second game to add players to your roster.
Slaughter Rule: If a team is up by 10 or more goals at any point the game will end.
Each team will get 1 timeout per game.
Players must play 2 regular season games to be playoff eligible.
All scheduled game times are final: A team will be granted a 10-minute grace period if all players are not present
SUBS: Can be made at anytime: a player subbing in must wait until the player they are entering in for is off the floor.
A goalie can be pulled at anytime allowing the team to bring in an extra shooter.
Games will consist of 3 8-minute periods with a 3 – minute break in between each period.
RUNNING CLOCK w/ exception of last minute of the game
Games tied at the end of regulation will result in a shootout:
-Each team gets 3 shots on goal (a separate player for each shot)
-If score remains tied after 3 shots the game will end in a tie
EXCEPTION: PLAYOFFS THE SHOOTOUT WILL GO UNTIL TIE IS BROKEN
PLAYING THE GAME:
The game will start with a face-off at center court. A face-off will occur:
-Start of a period
-A goal is scored
-A puck is frozen between 2 players
-The puck leaves the playing surface
-A net becomes dislodged
-The puck is frozen by the goalie
-An injury occurs
The individual taking the face-off shall stand with both feet and body squared to their opponent, with the tips of their sticks no less then 2 feet apart on the floor.
Advancing the puck: You can advance the puck by the blade of your stick or you can kick the puck to your teammate. You cannot kick the puck into your opponent’s goal. (See rule under minor penalties) A player can catch the puck as long as that player drops it straight down immediately
PENALTIES
Minor Penalties: A minor will result in a 1-minute power play for the opposing team. The offender must go into the penalty box for 1 minute. Ifthe power play team scores before the minute is up the penalty is over and teams go back to even strength. Here is what constitutes a minor penalty:
-High sticking- lifting your stick above your waist
-Hand pass- passing the puck to your teammate with your hand.
-Kicking the puck into your opponents goal
-Interference
-Tripping/Sliding: Causing your opponent to fall
-Holding/Pushing/Elbowing/Kicking/Kneeing
-Too many players on the floor- served by any member of offending team
Major Penalties: A major will result in a 2-minute power play for the opposing team. The offender must go into the penalty box for 2 minutes. The offender will remain in the penalty box regardless the number of goals scored during the penalty time: Here is what constitutes a major penalty.
-Personal Misconduct: Disrespecting an official, excessive profanity, abuse of facility or equipment or actions that incite a fight
-Spearing/Butt-ending: using your stick to hit your opponent with
-Boarding/Body checking: Excessive body contact or pushing into the boards
-Cross checking: Thrusting your stick shaft across an opponent
-Slashing: Hitting or attempting to hit an opponent with your stick
-Throwing of a stick by any player in order to stop a puck or to hit an opposing player.
= A PENALTY SHOT + a 3 MINUTE PENALTY
TWO MAJOR PENALTIES IN ONE GAME BY THE SAME PERSON WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC EJECTION FROM THE GAME
POWER PLAY:
4 on 4 hockey: Teams can only have 1 player in the box at a time creating a 4 on 3 situation. (No 4 on 2) If additional penalties are committed 1 person must remain in the box to serve out the time before the team can return to full strength.
**See above rule on power play goals during a minor/major**
TEAMS WHO ARE SHORT A PLAYER AS A RESULT OF LOOSING A PLAYER BECAUSE OF FIGHTING HAVE UNTILL THE NEXT GAME TO REPLACE THAT PLAYER. (SEE RULE ABOUT BEING ELIGIBLE FOR PLAYOFFS)
Penalty Shot/Shootout Process:
On a fast break situation: If the offensive player with the puck is interfered with or is brought down from behind by the defensemen a penalty shot will be rewarded.
Overtime situation: We will go into a shootout (see rule on overtime process)
Throwing a stick to stop the puck: see RULE under major penalties
The penalty/shootout process: The puck will be placed at center court, when the whistle is blown the shooter is given a chance to score on the goalie in a 1 on 1 situation. The goalie may defend the shot as they would under a normal situation.
FIGHTING POLICY: THERE WILL BE NO FIGHTING. ANYONE WHO STARTS A FIGHT WILL BE BANNED FROM INTRAMURALS & THE TFC FOR 1 YEAR AND WILL BE TURNED OVER TO THE DEAN OF STUDENTS.
