Two types of basketball camps will be offered this summer conducted by Head Women’s Basketball Coach Tom Megyesi and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Dan Voudrie.
A Day Camp for boys and girls in grades 4 through 8 will emphasize skill development in a very low-pressure fun environment. Groups will be divided by size and skill levels, and each student will have the opportunity to learn and develop the basic basketball fundamentals. Coaches and PUC basketball players will guide campers through drills, contests and competitions. Campers will also play 1 on 1, 3 on 3, and 5 on 5 games. Cost of the session is $90.
Day Camp Session I runs July 6 through July 9, 2009. Session II runs from July 13 through July 16, 2009. Both sessions are from 8 AM to 11 AM on those dates.
A Shooting School will be held July 20 through July 23, 2009 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM those dates for boys and girls grades 4 through 6. A second Shooting School will be held those dates for boys and girls grades 7 through 8 from 10 AM to 11:30 AM.
This camp is designed to work specifically on the fundamentals of shooting a basketball. Every aspect of shooting will be broken down and taught in a systematic and routine method to help a player develop the roper muscle memory reflexes to become a better shooter. There will be instruction, repetition, guided practice and contests daily. Groups will be divided based upon skill level to accomodate every player from the beginner to a more advanced player. Cost of the camp is $60.

HAMMOND, Ind., — A little mortar, some concrete blocks, and a bit of rerouting electrical wires and plumbing. Those were parts of the remodeling job in the women’s locker room and the concession stand in the Fitness & Recreation Center last summer.
The women’s locker room was expanded 15-feet specifically for the basketball team to create an area for game day meetings and viewing basketball game videos and DVDs. Expanding the locker room also follows the guidelines under Title IX, a 1972 federal ruling that provides equality of opportunities in men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports. Both squads now have private locker rooms separating them from the gymnasium locker facilities used by the campus members and the public.
