The Equine Management offerings at Purdue University Calumet arm students with the knowledge necessary to be good business people as well as good horse people. Housed within the School of Management, the program addresses a business area vital to state and national economies.
The Purdue Calumet Advantage
Equine programs at other colleges and universities focus primarily on the care and maintenance of horses. Purdue
University Calumet, in partnership with Purdue West Lafayette, recognizes that the industry involves high dollar investments that require strong business management skills. Purdue Calumet is one of only two universities in the nation to have an equine program housed in an accredited School of Management, which focuses on the business aspects of the equine industry.

Certificate in Equine Management
The Equine Management Certificate complements practical equine experience by providing a better grasp of the business side of the industry. Students must have a minimum of a high school diploma and, via distance learning or on campus, will take 18 credit hours of equine management courses such as Global Perspective of the Equine Industry, Equine Taxation, Equine Sport Facility Management, Equine Legal Issues, and more.
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business with a Major in Equine Management
Students will complete the core business curriculum (finance, accounting, marketing, human resources, economics, etc.) as well as taking courses specifically focused on the equine industry, including a senior project and an equine internship. Course work is done on campus, and graduates receive an accredited Purdue University Business Degree with a major in Equine Management.
