The $39 billion equine industry requires leaders with solid business skills as well as a love of horses. The Equine Management offerings at Purdue University Calumet arm students with the knowledge necessary to be good business people as well as good horse people. Housed within the School of Management, the program addresses a business area vital to state and national economies.

Equine programs at other colleges and universities focus primarily on the care and maintenance of horses. Purdue
University Calumet, in partnership with Purdue West Lafayette, recognizes that the industry involves high dollar investments that require strong business management skills. Purdue Calumet is one of only two universities in the nation to have an equine program housed in an accredited School of Management, which focuses on the business aspects of the equine industry. Our programs prepare students for a career in the multi-billion dollar horse industry.

- Degree seeking students receive a Purdue University Bachelor of Arts degree in Business with a major in Equine Business Management which ensures a solid foundation in all of the core business areas – marketing, accounting, finance, information systems, human resources, and operations management - along with 30 credit hours focusing on the business of the equine industry.
- Students also participate in experiential learning opportunities through a senior project and other activities.
- The Equine Management Certificate is offered via online courses and in partnership with Purdue University West Lafayette
- The Equine Management Certificate complements practical experience with horses
- Certificate courses are open to students with a high school diploma or a college degree in any subject
- There are many opportunities for internships and jobs focusing on the business of horses in the equine industry
- This program is endorsed by the Indiana Horse Council
