Welcome to the English Language Program at Purdue University Calumet

The English Language Program (ELP) at Purdue University Calumet provides students with the language skills needed to succeed in their university studies.
Courses include reading, writing, listening, and conversation, plus several elective options for the low-intermediate through advanced levels. See the Course List for more information.

Program Highlights

  • An extremely intensive program, with more contact hours than most programs
    • 15-week semesters with 21 hours of instruction per week
    • 8-week summer session with 24 hours of instruction per week

  • Several Elective Courses, such as TOEFL preparation, Introduction to American Film, and Study Skills
  • Weekly cultural and educational field trips to museums and other destinations for an additional fee
  • Daily one–on–one tutoring service provided by ELP instructors
  • Possibility of taking credit courses while still taking ESL
  • No TOEFL required for undergraduate admission
