CTIS’ Mission
The mission of Computer Technology and Information Services is to provide our faculty, students and staff with the core technologies and related support services that will allow them to efficiently and securely access and process information so that PUC can become a state-of-the-art learning environment.

CTIS, which stands for Computing, Technology, and Information Services, is the department of Purdue University Calumet that supports and maintains the computer hardware and software, computer accessories, audio-visual equipment, network and networking infrastructure, telephone system and services, student information services, and eCourses (Blackboard Vista), as well as offering the main computer lab and public computers in many of the open areas for use by the student population.
The services CTIS offers vary widely. CTIS is comprised of 11 different units, each of which has specific services they offer to Purdue University Calumet. Please click on a link below to find out more about what each unit has to offer. You may also check out the CTIS staff by clicking this link.
- Audio Visual – Audio/Visual Services, a division of CTIS, is responsible for the installation and maintenance of classroom and broadcast technology equipment on campus.
- Customer Service – The CTIS Customer Service Center (CSC) is the unit of CTIS that is responsible for service requests being logged, assigned to other CTIS units, and tracked.
- CTIS Operations – CTIS Operations is the “brains of the operation” for CTIS.
- Desktop Support – We install, repair, and maintain an inventory of all computer related equipment on campus including personal computers, printers, and misc. equipment pertaining to the computing needs of the university.
- eCourses – The eCourses unit is in charge of anything and everything related to Blackboard Learning Systems Vista on the Purdue University Calumet and ACLT campuses.
- Main Lab – The Main Computer lab, located in the main floor of the Powers building (Powers 115), is the unit of CTIS that provides the majority of the open computers available for student use.
- Networking – Networking Infrastructure is the unit of CTIS that is responsible for the planning, maintenance, and security of the network environment within the Purdue University Calumet and ACLT campuses, as well as the University Village.
- Server Admin – The Server Admin Team is the unit of CTIS that manages, maintains, monitors, and implements technology to support Email, File, and Print services, database applications, account administrative functions, backups, disk space, desktop software distribution, security, directory services, and various applications.
- ISS – Information Systems and Services, is the area within CTIS responsible for managing the Banner Student Information System and associated software and applications, and providing students, faculty and staff with support services that permit easy and secure access to student information.
- OIT – The Office of Instructional Technology is a combined effort of the Technology, Education, and Consulting (TEC) Center and the Educational Media Lab. The OIT services faculty, staff, and students with a variety of technology needs.
- Telephone Services – Telephone services is the unit of CTIS that provides a wide range of telecommunications services for campus, including telephone, cellular service, radio, paging, and more.
