The Department of Computer Information Technology and Graphics (CIT&G) at Purdue University Calumet, Hammond, Indiana invites applications for a tenure-track faculty opening in Computer Information Technology at the assistant professor level.  The position will commence on or about August 1, 2009.

Applicants must have an earned PhD degree in Computer Information Technology or a closely related field from an accredited university by the expected date of hire.  Applicants for this position will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses.  Course subject areas to teach are: data networks – design and implementation, VoIP, network security, network management, wireless networking and security, and other related network areas.  Applicants who have a successful teaching history and a minimum of one year of network related industry experience will be given preference.  Job duties will also include conducting research in their field of expertise, attending department and university meetings, overseeing student research, and performing course and curriculum development.

The CIT&G Department currently has over 400 students and nine full-time faculty. The department offers two Baccalaureate degree programs, B.S. in Information Technology (IT) and B.S. in Computer Graphics Technology (CGT).  The IT curriculum – based upon the proposed Computing Curricula – Information Technology 2008 Volume (http://www.acm.org/education/panel?pageIndex=2) – concentrates on Networking, Information Assurance and Security, Distributed Enterprise Applications, and Simulation and Game Development.  The CGT program has options in Multimedia and Animation & Video Games. The department provides an excellent teaching and learning environment equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software.
