As we all know, transferable skills and practical training help students build their resumes. Student Employment continues to strive to combine work with educational goals helping students learn time management, multi-tasking, and other career related “soft skills” that employers seek upon graduation.
Starting in February, Student Employment rolls out their new student employment training series called Get S.E.T. Get S.E.T. will further develop student skills and increase their productivity and value to departments across campus by providing interactive workshops on topics including telephone etiquette, customer service, Purdue web navigation, professionalism, and employment basics.
The program received fine tuning in the fall when it was piloted with the help of current student employees and student employee supervisors. “It is hoped that student job performance will be enhanced, while skills are being strengthened and professional behavior becomes routine.” said Lorraine Fiordelisi, coordinator of the Student Employment program.
