HAMMOND, Ind. — While the men’s team hosts three games in a busy week of basketball, the women will also gear up for a pair of home games starting Wednesday at 7 p.m. facing backyard rival Indiana University Northwest. The RedHawks (7-6) lost a pair of contests last week in the Indiana Tech Tournament.

The RedHawks are averaging 64.3 points per game compared to the Peregrines (3-8) 68.8. This will be the first time in two seasons that the Peregrine women meet an NAIA opponent from the Gary campus. 

On Saturday, in the first game of a doubleheader with the men’s team, the Peregrines face the Illinois Institute of Technology Scarlet Hawks at 1 p.m. The Peregrines earned their first win of the season beating the Scarlet Hawks, 62-58, last month in Chicago.

Sophomores Jenny Britton (Lake Central) and Chrissy Lobodinski (Merrillville) and freshman Nicci Desimone (Elkhart Memorial) all scored in double figures in the nonconference win. 

Both games will air on WJOB 1230-AM. The women’s game will be live at 1 p.m. and the men’s game will be tape-delayed to air after the Purdue West Lafayette contest against Davidson that begins at 3 p.m.

The Valparaiso Horizon Gymnastics performers will provide the halftime entertainment at both games.
