REC CENTER — Four starters scored in double digits, including a pair of Peregrines who registered double-doubles, earning their first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win of the season in an 89-64 victory against Calumet College at home Saturday.
Owning an 11-point halftime lead, the Peregrines (4-17, 1-2 CCAC) opened the second half with a 20-9 run in the first eight minutes to put the game out of reach. During that stretch, the Peregrines hit 8-of-11 shots, a 72 percent success rate, with four of the five starters contributing in the scoring column.
Senior co-captain Linsey Smith (Lake Central), who leads the Peregrines scoring 14.1 points per game, was 7-of-12 from the field, including four 3-pointers, for 26 points. Smith also grabbed a season-high and game-high 13 rebounds collecting her first double-double of the season. She also swiped three steals in the win.

ELGIN, Ill. — The Peregrines trailed by only seven, 37-30, at the half. But a 26-9 run to open the second 20 minutes of action put the game on ice for the home team in an 81-61 win for the Eagles in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up.
A layup by Peregrine point guard Meme Harris (Merrillville) two minutes into the second half brought her squad to within seven, 41-34, but the offense stalled for the next five-plus minutes.
Four Peregrine players scored in double-digits in the CCAC contest led by senior co-captain Shannon Dugan (Mother McAuley, Chicago) who scored a season-high 16 points shooting 70 percent from the field. Dugan also led the team with eight rebounds in the loss.

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. — Senior co-captain Linsey Smith (Lake Central) hit a 12-foot jumper bringing the Peregrines to within six points with 5:30 left to play. But the offense stalled for the next three-plus minutes and the Trolls went on a 12-2 run leading to the 81-69 win in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Division II opener for the Peregrines (3-16, 0-1 CCAC).
After Smith’s field goal, Trinity Christian College’s Amanda Learned, the team’s leading scorer with 12.5 per game, drilled a 3-pointer for a nine point advantage. Peregrine head coach Tom Megyesi called a timeout to avoid a deeper hole, but the Trolls (8-11, 1-1) scored nine more points before PUC sophomore forward Sara Keilman hit a layup to stop the run.

CHICAGO — Robert Morris ran its winning streak to four beating the Peregrines 95-55 at Loyola University in a non-division contest of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Four Eagle players scored in double digits and three others added eight or more in the win.
The Peregrines (3-15) couldn’t get the offense moving during the opening minutes of the second half. Trailing 44-23, the Peregrines could only score four points during a 7-minute stretch, while the Eagles racked up 28 for a 72-27 lead.
Point guard Meme Harris (Merrillville) led the Peregrines with a dozen points, and she collected five rebounds and a pair of steals and assists. Harris is the team’s second leading scorer averaging 13.7 per game.
Senior co-captain Shannon Dugan (Mother McAuley, Chicago) scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Freshman Chrissy Lobodinski finished with 10 points, including one 3-pointer, a team-high six rebounds and also had two assists.
The Peregrines are on the road for the next two weeks in double-headers with the men’s team at Trinity Christian College next Saturday at 1 p.m. and against Judson College Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m.

REC CENTER — Averaging 82 points per game, including a 40 percent average from the 3-point stripe, Saint Xavier University maintained its season statistics with an 87-55 non-division win against Purdue University Calumet.
Ahead 31-21 with 4:43 to play in the opening half, the Cougars ran off a 15-5 point split and doubled their lead at the break, 46-26. The shortened Peregrine roster, which includes seven active players, was never able to cut into the Cougar lead for the remainder of the game.
Peregrine point guard Meme Harris (Merrillville) led all scorers with 16 points. Harris is the team’s second leading scorer averaging 13.6 per game. Freshman forward Cortney Robinson (Hebron) in a starting role, finished as the team’s second leading scorer with nine points.
