GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — On the road for the first time this season, the Peregrines faced Davenport University, one of the top-ranked National Assocation of Intercollegiate Athletics Division II teams. REC CENTER — In the box score, Madonna University connected on nine 3-pointers, only four more than the Peregrines. But it wasn’t the amount of successes the Crusaders experienced from the deep shot, it was the timeliness that led to an 82-73 nonconference win for the visitors Tuesday night.
The Peregrines (1-2) held a 67-64 lead with 7:08 to play in regulation before Crusader Tabatha Wydrick drilled a three to tie the game. A little more than 60 seconds later, Alyssa Guerin drained another 3-pointer giving Madonna a lead it would never relinguish. Guerin finished as the game-high scorer with 29 points, including a 5-for-7 rate from the 3-point line. (more…)

REC CENTER — Two come-from-behind wins in two days was a little more than the Peregrines could manage in the 4th Annual Peregrine Classic on Friday and Saturday.
Opening its season against Illinois Institute of Technology, PUC trailed 8-0 before junior LaKeisha Hurst (Dover, Del.) connected on a put-back after freshman teammate Meme Harris (Merrillville) missed. The Peregrines trailed the entire first half, but finally wrestled the lead away from the Scarlet Hawks six minutes into the second half. Purdue edged I.I.T. 80-75 in the teams’ season openers.
On Saturday, the Peregrines again trailed early, 7-0, in the first 90 seconds of action against the University of St. Francis. But the Lady Saints (2-0) had an arsenal of offensive weapons and doubled up on the Peregrines, 31-15, with eight minutes to play in the first half. U.S.F. hit 54 percent of its 3-point shots beating the Peregrines 107-68. (more…)
