HAMMOND, Ind. – Purdue University Calumet acting women’s basketball coach Tom Megyesi has received commitments from his first four recruits. Agreeing to attend Purdue Calumet and join the Lady Peregrines program for the 2007-08 season are guards Jamesha Harris of Merrillville, Amanda Moes of Highland and Jenny Britton of Lake Central, as well as forward Cortney Robinson of Hebron.”I’m very excited that these high quality players and people have made decisions to attend Purdue Calumet,” Megyesi said. “They bring welcome offensive skills and athleticism to our program.”
Harris, a 5-foot-4 guard, averaged 10.2 points, 2.5 steals, 2.5 assists and some two rebounds per game last season, while earning second team all-region recognition by The Times. The 5-4 Moes also received Times second team all-region honors after averaging 9.1 points and 2.4 assists for the Lady Trojans.
Times All-Region first team honoree Britton scored at an 11.5 game clip last season. She also connected on 40 percent of her 3-point deliveries and nearly 85 percent of her free throws. She added two steals a game, as well. The 5-10 Robinson, an All-Porter County Conference selection, averaged 13 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.3 steals for the Lady Hawks.
