Hamman, Smith named to CCAC Honorable Mention squad

HAMMOND, Ind. – Senior Jessica Hamman (Highland) and junior Linsey Smith (Lake Central) each earned a spot on the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention team. It was the second consecutive time Smith was named to the Honorable Mention team.Smith led the Lady Peregrines in scoring averaging 12 points per game. The forward was the leading scorer in 13 of the team’s 30 games this past season. In CCAC contests, Smith averaged 12.9 ppg, placing her as the 12th highest scorer in the conference. She led the conference and the Lady Peregrines in free throw shooting percentage; 84 percent in 12 CCAC games and 79 percent in 30 season games.

Hamman, who finished the season with a flourish averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds in her final four games, was the Lady Peregrines’ second leading scorer with 11.6 points in 28 games and she averaged 12.4 points in CCAC action. In 11 conference games, Hamman averaged 7.4 rebounds per game, good enough for seventh place. The 6-0 center led the Lady Peregrines with eight rebounds per game finishing with 225 total on the season, 86 more than LaKeisha Hurst the team’s second leading rebounder. Hamman was fifth best in the CCAC averaging 3.1 offensive rebounds and 4.1 defensive rebounds per game.

Freshman of the Year, Jacqie Storm, University of St. Francis, averaged 16.3 ppg to lead the CCAC, while Jenny VanderZanden, Indiana University South Bend, averaged 10.3 rpg to lead the conference.
