Nationally ranked No. 3 St. Xavier Cougars prove too much for PUC

REC CENTER – St. Xavier left little doubt in the minds of the Lady Peregrines and their fans why the Cougars are third best in the country among National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics teams. The Cougars (17-2 overall, 2-1 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference) scored on their second possession of the game to open the scoring and were never threatened in the 82-42 win. (more…)

Robert Morris ignites a 41-point second half, beat Lady Peregrines

CHICAGO – Robert Morris’ offense was hovering in the low 30s from the field in the first half, but in the second half the Eagles were 18-of-32 (56 percent) helping them turn a four-point lead at the half into a 25-point victory. The Eagles beat the Lady Peregrines 69-44 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference season opener for Purdue University Calumet (4-11, 0-1). (more…)

Smith’s clutch free throw nets late Lady Peregrine victory, 50-48

HAMMOND, Ind. – Junior guard Linsey Smith (Lake Central) hit her fourth 3-pointer of the game to tie the score, 48-48, with 38 seconds left to play. Smith, who was fouled on the shot, calmly swished the free throw giving the Lady Peregrines (4-10) a one-point edge and the eventual game-winning basket. Purdue University Calumet squandered a 12-point second half lead, but held on to beat Calumet College of St. Joseph (3-15), 50-48, at the Civic Center. (more…)

Judson College hands Lady Peregrines first loss on the 2007 calendar

ELGIN, Ill. – Co-captain Shannon Dugan (Mother McAuley) hit an eight-foot jumper with 3:03 left in regulation to draw the Lady Peregrines within four points, 58-54, of Judson College. It was the closest the Lady Peregrines had been since the opening tip-off. But the Lady Peregrines (3-10) were only able to muster up one more field goal during the final 180 seconds, and dropped their first game of the 2007 portion of the season, 64-56, splitting the two-game non-conference season series with the Lady Eagles (5-11).
