The Crimson Wave drilled eight 3-pointers in the opening half challenging the Peregrines defense. But the Peregrines had one of their best shooting performances of the conference season connecting on 17-of-32 (53 percent) from the floor and held a slim, 39-38, lead to end the half.

REC CENTER — Nearly every offensive shot selection and attempt Trinity Christian College made in the second half of Saturday’s action seemed to work. The Trolls were 7-of-11 (63 percent) from the 3-point stripe and 19-of-33 (57 percent) from the field, overall, leading them to the 89-62 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference road win over the Peregrines.
Purdue University Calumet went to the locker room at the half trailing by only six points, 41-35. Through the first 11-plus minutes, the Peregrines kept within striking distance down only 65-57 after the game’s leading scorer, Kevin Thomas (Highland), scored a basket at the 8:45 mark.
But when the Trolls’ leading scorer, Jonathan Huizinga, drilled a 3-pointer seconds later, TCC grabbed the double-digit lead and continued to stretch it to the end of the game.
Thomas scored a season-high 21 to lead the Peregrines, and he just missed his first double-double of the year finishing with nine rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass. The senior hit 72 percent from the field in the loss.

Seconds later, Peregrine guard Robert Williams (Gary West Side) was fouled and calmly nailed both attempts and pushed the lead to 67-61.
