REC CENTER — Holding a 15-point lead with 8:03 left in the second half, the Peregrine offense stalled, while the Crimson Wave’s offense revved. Calumet College chipped away at PUC’s lead during the next six-plus minutes and grabbed the lead with less than two minutes to play and finished the comeback with the 67-61 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win.
Senior Kris Krstevski (Lake Central) banked in a jumper with 2:59 to play giving the Peregrines a 59-58 lead. But a Jon Contos (Munster) free throw tied the game a few seconds later and senior center Jon Hanselman (Valparaiso) gave the Crimson Wave the lead for good when he hit a put-back with 1:51 left.
Krstevski led the Peregrines with 15 points hitting 50 percent from the field, and also grabbed seven rebounds. The 6-5 guard is averaging 9.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Peregrines.

REC CENTER — The Peregrines built a 17-point lead midway through the second half of action and had to stave off a pesky Trojan team that tied the game at 76-76 with 1:20 to play. Sophomore Robert Williams (Gary West Side) hit a 14-foot jumper with 68 seconds left for a two-point edge.
The Trojans missed their next attempt and senior Kevin Thomas (Highland) was fouled grabbing his twelth rebound of the contest. Thomas buried both free throws giving the Peregrines a four-point lead with 33 seconds to play.
Trinity International University’s Patrick Atkins hit a jumper to draw the Trojans to 80-78 with 20 seconds left on the clock. The Trojans forced a foul on the inbounds play giving senior Kris Krstevski (Lake Central) a chance to ice the game with a pair of charity tosses.
Krstevski calmly hit both tosses for a four-point, 82-78, advantage and the eventual game-winning free throws leading to the 83-80 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win.

JOLIET, Ill. — An 11-2 run by the Fighting Saints midway through the second half gave the home team a 10-point lead, and although the Peregrines kept the game within double digits, they couldn’t find enough offense in the closing minutes leading to the 69-62 nonconference loss Saturday night.
In the first half, the Peregrines (2-12) grabbed a two-point lead when senior Kris
Krstevski (Lake Central) hit a 12-foot jumper for an 18-16 advantage. With 3:47 left in the first half, Krstevski connected again giving the Peregrines a 27-20 lead, their largest of the contest.
But in the final three-plus minutes the Fighting Saints (8-9) outscored the Peregrines 15-3, including three 3-point baskets. PUC’s offense hit a cold snap missing 5-of-6 in the closing minutes of the first half. The Peregrines tied the game, 35-35, early in the second half, but could never get the lead back.
