REC CENTER — Down nine points at the half, and clearly not out of it, the Peregrines forced the offensive action in the second half. Senior Kris Krstevski (Lake Central) hit a jumper just inside the 3-point stripe with 4:25 to play drawing the home team to within four points, 48-44.
But in the final four minutes, the Rochester College Warriors (8-3) were 3-for-5 from the field and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe holding off the Peregrines (1-7) for the 60-54 nonconference win. The Peregrines hit 4-of-8 in the final four minutes, including a pair of 3-pointers from Krstevski and Antonio Hurt (Michigan City), but never visited the charity stripe in the last four minutes of action.
Krstevski finished tied with game-high honors scoring 15, nine in the second half. The senior also had a team second best eight rebounds and two assists in the loss.
Senior Kevin Thomas (Highland), in his second game back from a shoulder injury, scored a dozen points hitting 83 percent from the field. He also had five rebounds before fouling out of the contest.
