SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Two Peregrines scored double digits in the nonconference game Wednesday night, but it wasn’t enough offense against a Titan trio who scored a combined 55 points leading their team to an 85-68 win. IU South Bend senior Tyler Leighton and sophomore Ben Werner scored 20 each and sophomore Dan Kunde added 15 points leading all scorers.
Peregrine sophomore Justin Latimore (Indianapolis North Central) led his squad with 15 points shooting 75 percent from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers. Latimore also grabbed four rebounds in the loss.
Also scoring double digits was sophomore Don Davenport (Indianapolis Northwest) who finished with 11 points hitting 80 percent of his shots, including a 3-pointer. Michael Patton (Gary West Side) added nine points and led the Peregrines (0-2) with nine rebounds.
Both teams shot nearly identical numbers from the field and free throw lines keeping the game close statistically. PUC shot 46 percent from the field and hit 58 percent of its free throws, while IUSB (2-0) hit 47 and 55, respectively. But the Titans cashed in offensively on 22 Peregrine turnovers.
Purdue University Calumet hosts the University Saint Francis, Ill., this Saturday at 3 p.m.
