Former assistant coach Mark Thanos dies trying to save boy

HAMMOND, Ind. — Former assistant basketball coach Mark Thanos, who worked at PUC from 1994-97 with retired head coach Larry Liddle, died last Sunday trying to rescue a boy who had been sucked into a culvert during the driving rainstorm.
