Indiana University Southeast knocks off Peregrines, 86-69

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Steve Polak (Clark) scored his season high 18 points, including four 3-point baskets, and Minuyard Wheeler (Wirt) managed 15 points and a season high 10 rebounds for the Peregrines (3-4) last Saturday in southern Indiana. But it wasn’t enough to earn a come-from-behind win as IU Southeast won 86-69 in the nonconference game.Polak was 7-of-16 from the field, dished out five assists and collected three steals in the loss. Wheeler, the team’s scoring leader at 20.1 per game, was 6-of-9 from the field and added four assists to his game totals.

Freshman forward Derek Withers (Lafayette/Harrison) scored his season high 13 points hitting 50 percent of his shots, which included three 3-pointers. Withers also grabbed seven rebounds and had two assists.

Sophomore Charles Cruz (Gavit) scored nine points and collected six rebounds. Cruz leads the Peregrines with 43 rebounds this season.
