Alumni Career Network

Volunteer to be an Alumni Career Specialist

Connecting the Purdue Calumet alumni family to promote professional success

Alumni are one of Purdue Calumet’s greatest resources. Purdue Calumet alumni are located in all 50 U.S. States and in almost 20 foreign countries. With today’s job market being increasingly competitive, mentors are in higher demand. As an alum, when you contribute your insight and energy to your alma mater, you not only affirm the quality of your education and your degree’s impact on your life, you promote the reputation and success of Purdue Calumet and its students.

The PAC Alumni Career Network is a partnership between the Purdue Alumni – Calumet and Purdue Calumet’s Office of Career Services.

What would you do as an Alumni Career Mentor?

Alumni volunteers agree to be contacted by Purdue Calumet students and alumni to give advice on careers and professional development. These volunteers serve as a resource for career information and advice for current students and alumni at various stages of their professional development. Alumni agree to participate in an informational interview with the person that contacts them. Each alum designates his/her preferred mode of contact–via e-mail, by phone or in person. Purdue Calumet alumni can participate regardless of where you live.

Though the most common questions will relate to careers in a specific field, company, or city, the PAC Alumni Career Network can also be used to talk to peers

  • about professional organizations
  • to find out more about a company in preparation for a job interview
  • to learn about a specific geographic area when considering moving
  • to research best practices
